24 Aug Virtual College Fairs
Since many colleges are not re-opening for Fall 2020, and campuses remain closed to visitors, virtual visits will continue to dominate the scene this semester. Many major events have already pivoted to the virtual sphere, and gone are the days of long lines at booths in a convention center. But don’t worry, we’ve compiled many of the upcoming virtual college fairs below so you can stay on top of your college search. *Note* All times are in EST.
The Coalition fall fairs begin this week, August 26 & 27, from 7-10 pm. Each day will consist of three sessions, where students can choose from 5 rooms. Be sure to look over the list of schools in each group beforehand, since you have to select your room for each session during your registration. Can’t attend this week? Additional dates are September 16 & 17, October 21 & 22, and November 4 & 5.
Peach State Tour
Are you hoping to stay in Georgia for college? Then the Peach State tour is the one for you. Meet virtually with admissions counselors from Georgia State, Georgia Tech, and UGA, August 25-September 17 at 6 pm. Sessions are assigned by region (Metro Atlanta, South Georgia, North Georgia, Out-of-State), so be sure to sign up for the correct one. There is even a special session in Spanish on September 15
The National Association of College Admissions Counselors hosts the most extensive college fairs in the country. They typically visit large metro areas in the fall and spring, and tens of thousands of students attend. However, this year, all fall fairs will be virtual, with 600+ colleges in attendance at each. There are four different days to attend (September 13, October 12, October 18, November 8). Registration is free and is open now. Before the fair, use our student guide here to create your plan of attack.
GA Probe Fair
For Georgia students, this may be the fair you are most familiar with. Often in school cafeterias or media centers, Probe Fairs are usually an excellent opportunity for students to meet with a lot of schools (usually 200+) in a location relatively close to home. However, all fall fairs will be virtual, and registration opens September 15. From the website, it appears there were be college panels and “mini” fairs where six colleges present together. The event will happen on October 5-7 and November 2-4, from 5-7:45 pm.
Irish Week & Best of British Virtual Events
Have you thought about spending your college years in the UK? Then these two fairs are for you! All next week (August 31- September 4), at 11:30 EST, learn more about studying in Ireland and post-work visas. Then, September 19-22, The University of Edinburgh, University of Oxford, and Kings College London come together to discuss opportunities in Britain.
We hope this list gives you a few options for virtual college fairs. We will continue to share relevant resources as you and your family navigate the college admissions process. Additionally, be sure to check out our virtual college exploration post.
